All About Me
My name is Katie Herbert. I was born in Omaha and grew up in Waterloo, Nebraska. I have three wonderful brothers who all have families of their own. Our family gatherings are lots of fun and very loud.
I married my husband, Brad, in October of 1992. Brad is a train engineer for Union Pacific. We have three children. Jake is a freshman at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Our daughter Abbie is a senior at Bellevue East and our son Luke is in 4th grade at Leonard Lawrence.
I graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in May of 1992 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Special Education. I received a Master's degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Early Childhood also from UNO. This year I started my 21st year in the Bellevue Public schools. During my time I have taught Special Education at Peter Sarpy and LeMay Elementary. After I received my master's degree, I accepted a position in kindergarten and taught at Central Elementary for 10 years. I enjoy change and new challenges so I decided to accept a position in Special Education at Leonard Lawrence. After working as a Resource teacher for two years, I accepted the 4th grade position at Leonard Lawrence.
I enjoy reading, riding bikes with my family, and attending all the many events my children are involved with. Finally, I love teaching! There is nothing better than seeing the world through the eyes of a child who is learning something new. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to work with your child this year.
